The Department seeks to appoint a full-time Lecturer in Philosophy of Science, with teaching and research interests in the philosophy of science, and the history and philosophy of the physical sciences broadly construed.
Science & Technology Studies at UCL is an inter-disciplinary department which is active in teaching and research in the history, philosophy and social studies of science. The Department seeks to appoint a Lecturer in Philosophy of Science, with teaching and research interests in the philosophy of science, and – preferably - the history and philosophy of the physical sciences broadly construed. Duties include: carrying out original research, supervision of MSc and doctoral students, teaching on the department’s undergraduate and graduate programme, contributing to the administrative and pastoral duties in the department. The lectureship will be available from 1st September 2010.
The successful applicant must hold a PhD in an appropriate field and have a strong record of research and publication. Applicants must have proven ability to teach in the specified areas and to supervise academic work by undergraduates, masters and doctoral students and a demonstrable commitment to high-quality teaching.
