Résumé

The Centre de Sciences Humaines (CSH), New Delhi invites applications for a post-doctoral fellowship in Economics. The candidate should hold a Ph.D. in Economics from a recognised university/institute in India or abroad. Starting from 1 March 2011, the candidate is expected to conduct a research project in Economics in the context of contemporary India or South Asia and to produce original results in terms of publications.

The Centre de Sciences Humaines (CSH), New Delhi invites applications for a post-doctoral fellowship in Economics.

Academic requirements and candidate profile

The candidate should hold a Ph.D. in Economics from a recognised university/institute in India or abroad.

Fluency in English (both written and spoken) is a prerequisite. The candidate is expected to conduct a research project in Economics in the context of contemporary India or South Asia and to produce original results in terms of publications. Preference will be given to projects related to the research focus of CSH (please see website for further details:
www.csh-delhi.com). Potential themes are as follows:

  • development and growth;
  • political economy;
  • poverty, inequalities and redistribution;
  • urban and regional economics;
  • agricultural economics.

Strong qualifications in applied econometrics would be a definite asset.

Conditions of the fellowship

The duration of the fellowship is for one year starting from 1 March 2011, and may be extended.

The selected fellow will be based at the Centre de Sciences Humaines (CSH), New Delhi, and will work in a multicultural and inter-disciplinary team.

The amount of the fellowship will be approximately Rs. 40,000 per month, depending upon
qualifications and experience. In addition, there will be a provision to cover expenses connected with the implementation of the project.

Application Procedure

Complete applications must include the following:

  • a CV, with a detailed list of publications;
  • two academic reference letters;
  • a synopsis of the Ph D thesis ;
  • a copy of two of the candidate’s main research output (articles or conference papers);
  • a comprehensive research proposal (5-10 pages) emphasising the central theme, research objectives, hypothesis, methodology and references to the literature.

The deadline for submission of applications is 31 January 2011. Pre-selected candidates will be called for an interview.
